Swami Vivekananda Says......

  1.     "Educate and raise the masses, and thus alone a nation is possible." - Swami Vivekananda
  2.      "Education, education, education alone! Travelling through many cities of Europe and observing in them the comforts and education of even the poor people, there was brought to my mind the state of our own poor people, and I used to shed tears. What made the difference? Education was the answer I got. Through education comes faith in one’s own Self, and through faith in one’s own Self the inherent Brahman is waking up in them." - Swami Vivekananda
  3.     I want each one of my children to be a hundred times greater than I could ever be. Everyone of you must be giant-must,that is my word.Obedience, readiness, and love for the cause-if you have these three, nothing can hold you back.- Swami Vivekananda.
  4.     "Give me a few men and women who are pure and unselfish, and I shall shake the world."- Swami Vivekananda. (CW Vol -  Page - )
  5.         "This world is not for cowards. Do not try to fly. Look not for success or failure. Join yourself to the perfectly unselfish will and work on. Know that the mind which is born to succeed joins itself to a determined will and perseveres. You have the right to work, but do not become so degenerate as to look for results." - Swami Vivekananda
  6.     This world is too full of blustering talk. We want a little more earnest work, and less talk." - Swami Vivekananda
  7.       Education is Incomplete if it Addresses only the Body and the Mind……. What Completes it is a Spiritual Element." - Swami Vivekananda
  8.      Follow me, if you will, by being intensely sincere, perfectly unselfish, and above all, by being perfectly pure. My blessings go with you. - Swami Vivekananda.
  9.      I want some strongly built, energetic, serviceable boys of character. -Swami Vivekananda.
  10.       We want some disciples-fiery young men-do you see?-intelligent and brave who dare to go to the jaws of Death, and are ready to swim the ocean across. Do you follow me? We want hundreds like that, both men and women. - Swami Vivekananda.
  11.      What the world wants is character. The world is in need of those whose life is one burning love, selfless. That love will make every word tell like thunderbolt...Bold words and bolder deeds are what we want. Awake, awake, great ones! -Swami Vivekananda.
  12.      Be brave! Be strong! Be fearless! Once you have taken up the spiritual life, fight as long as there is any life in you. Even though you know you are going to be killed, fight till you “are killed.” Don’t die of fright. Die fighting. Don’t go down till you are knocked down. - Swami Vivekananda.
  13.      This is the central idea of the Gita - to be calm and steadfast in all circumstances, with one's body, mind and soul centred at His hallowed feet!" - Swami Vivekananda

If the lawyer thinks that he is the Spirit, he will be a better lawyer, and so on. Instead of having faith in ‘I cannot’, one should have faith in ‘I can’”. – Swami Vivekananda

If you want to be intellectual, work it out on the intellectual plane, and intellectual gains you shall have. And if you want to attain to freedom, work it out on the spiritual plane, and free you shall be. - Swami Vivekananda.

  20.     "The only definition that can be given of morality is this: 'That which is selfish is immoral, and that which is unselfish is moral." - Swami Vivekananda (I.110)
  21.      "An intellectual, heartless man can never become an inspired man . . . Intellect has been cultured, with the result that hundreds of sciences have been discovered, and their effect has been that the few have made slaves of the many – that is all the good that has been done”. – Swami Vivekananda
  22.      Men, men, these are wanted: everything else will be ready, but strong, vigorous, believing young men, sincere to the backbone, are wanted. A hundred such and the world becomes revolutionized." - Swami Vivekananda (III.223-24)

  28.      “Know your past. Out of the past is built the future. Whoever tries to bring the past to the door of everyone, is a great benefactor to his nation. 30.     Mountain-high though the difficulties appear, terrible and gloomy thought all things seem, they are but Maya. Fear not and it is banished. Crush it and it vanishes. Stamp upon it, and it dies. Be not afraid. Think not how many times you fail. Never mind... Go forward: assert yourself again and again, and light must come. - Swami Vivekananda.

  35.      "Learn obedience first. Among these Western nations, which such a high spirit of independence, the spirit of obedience is equally strong. We are all of us self-important, which never produces any work. Great enterprise, boundless courage, tremendous energy, and, above all, perfect obedience - these are the only traits that lead to individual and national regeneration. These traits are altogether lacking in us. - Swami Vivekananda (VI.349)
  36.      "I consider that the great national sin is the neglect of the masses, and that is one of the causes of our downfall. No amount of politics would be of any avail until the masses in India are once more well educated, well fed, and well cared for. They pay for our education, they build our temples, but in return they get kicks. They are practically our slaves. If we want to regenerate India, we must work for them." - Swami Vivekananda (V.222-23)
  37.      "The difference between God and the devil is in nothing except in unselfishness and selfishness. The devil knows as much as God, is as powerful as God; only he has no holiness - that makes him a devil. Apply the same idea to the modern world: excess of knowledge and power, without holiness, makes human beings devils." - Swami Vivekananda (V.425)
  38.      "One of the greatest lessons I have learnt in my life is to pay as much attention to the means of work as to its end. ...I have been always learning great lessons from that all the secret of success is there: to pay as much attention to the means as to the end." - Swami Vivekananda (II.1)
  39.      "After so much austerity, I have understood this as the real truth - God is present in every jiva; there is no other God besides that. 'Who serves jiva, serves God indeed.'"- - Swami Vivekananda (V.246)
  40.      "Europe, the centre of the manifestation of material energy, will crumble into dust within fifty years if she is not mindful to change her position, to shift her ground and make spirituality the basis of her life. And what will save Europe is the religion of the Upanishads. (Uttered by Swamiji in 1897) (III.159)
  41.        "It is already becoming clear that a chapter which had a western beginning will have to have an Indian ending,  If it is not to end in the Self-destruction of the human race. At this supremely dangerous moment in human history, the only way of salvation for mankind is the Indian way." - Dr. Arnold Joseph Toynbee, British Historian!
  42.      "Like the gentle dew that falls unseen and unheard, and yet brings into blossom the fairest of roses, has been the contribution of India to the thought of the world. Silent, unperceived, yet omnipotent in its effect, it has revolutionized the thought of the world, yet nobody knows when it did so." - Swami Vivekananda
